WHO WE ARE

Climate change is no longer a distant warning—it is a reality that is transforming Europe.
Extreme heat waves, fires, floods, and prolonged droughts are becoming increasingly frequent. Since 1980, these phenomena have caused economic losses of more than €400 billion in the European Union. And, according to the European Environment Agency, all regions of Europe are being affected.

It is in this context that CREEC – Community Responses to Extreme Environmental Events and Climate Change was born.
The project has a clear mission: to empower schools, teachers, and students in Portugal, Spain, and Greece to respond to extreme weather events and integrate climate change adaptation strategies into everyday school life.
Because education plays a key role in prevention, preparedness, and building more resilient communities.

CREEC brings together NGOs specializing in environmental education, a university, a social enterprise with experience in climate research, and three schools located in particularly vulnerable regions.

Preparation begins with information.
Protection begins with education.
Resilience is built in community.
